Common Sound Studio Jim's private studio is physically based around a 50-year-old solid wood desk that was built for and given to his grandfather, a country doctor in SE Oklahoma. Jim attached an Omnirax sliding keyboard shelf for the Mac G4 keyboard and mouse and a KDS 19” monitor, and a Mac G3 iBook sits on top. Jim sits in a Steelcase Leap chair. Everything is set up so it is easy to reach or roll to all main pieces of gear from the Leap chair. His main 2 MIDI keyboards (a Roland JD-800 and Kurzweil K2000) and old '70s Roland SH-3a analog keyboard are directly to the right of the desk. Below is a close up of the JD-800, K2000, and SH-3a. You can also see the left sides of Jim's Roland Juno-6 and Fender Rhodes 54. Below gives a better view of the Juno-6 and Rhodes 54. Jim played these two keyboards in 1981-1982 in the New Jetz new wave band in Dallas, TX. You also see his Parker NiteFly and Yamaha APX guitars, one of his Genelec 1029 monitors, the computer rack, and a Toni Basil and a Frankie Smith RIAA platinum single and gold 12" award from Jim's record company days (1978-1983). |
